Guys, we got a problem. Now, nothing is confirmed, so far. But, this is something that we should take into account. Now, we all know that the Spider-Man rights sharing deal between Disney and Sony expires after Spider-Man: Far From Home. We also know that Tom Holland's contract has him for at least one more film. Obviously, given the success that Spider-Man has been having in the MCU, with two solo films, and three major MCU appearances (Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame), we all thought that Disney and Sony would easily renew their contract in order for Spider-Man to continue operating in the MCU. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be that simple. Spider-Man's future in the MCU might not last that long, because, according to this report, if Spider-Man: Far From Home fails to make $1 billion dollars at the box office by the time it exits theaters, Sony might pull Spider-Man out of the MCU, and they will pull out of their rights sharing arrangement with Marvel Studios.

Now, I don't want to make a big deal about this if it's nothing, but it's not like this is the first time that rumors about Spider-Man leaving the MCU have surfaced, After all, Sony has made it clear that they want Spider-Man to appear in their Sony Marvel Universe, and they want a crossover between Spider-Man and Venom. So, it really shouldn't be a surprise that Sony is looking for a way to back out of this deal in order to gain full creative control over Spider-Man, again. Currently, Far From Home holds a staggering $600 million dollars at the box office, with a credit rating of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. Clearly, this means that the film will be a massive success, even if it doesn't reach $1 billion. Though, it might, given the success of other MCU installments like last year's Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, as well as this year's Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, with Infinity War and Endgame reaching $2 billion dollars, and Endgame becoming the second highest grossing film of all time, after Avatar. Even still, Sony is starting to show their true colors, again, and they're not playing games. But, we'll have to wait and see what happens in the end(game).

2019 has been a good year for Disney, but not so much for other studios, Sony included. Their recent film, MIB: International, only managed to get a 22% on Rotten Tomatoes, and only made $245.1 million at the box office, on a budget of $110 million. So, Spider-Man is pretty much all they have left (that, and PlayStation). Venom, though, managed to make $855 million last year, passing most MCU films. Though, not much of a critical success, it is still enough to start a Spider-Man Cinematic Universe. With a arsenal of 900 characters at their disposal, literally nothing, at this point, is keeping Sony from pulling Spider-Man out of the MCU, except Far From Home's box office, if it reaches $1 billion. Now, you all know, at this point, that I'm not the biggest fan of Sony, specifically their movie department, because of stuff like this. With that said, this deal between Marvel and Sony is a huge benefit for Spider-Man fans, and I want to see it continue as the MCU progresses further and further, as there's more Spider-Man stories to tell in this ever-growing franchise that continues to put out good content year after year after year.

So, let me know your thoughts on this, and be sure to check out the article in the link below. And tell me, guys, do you think that Far From Home will make $1 billion dollars at the box office, and do you think that Disney and Sony will be able to renew their deal, and keep Spider-Man in the MCU for the foreseeable future?
