<p>That's exactly what is happening. Mysterio is meant to play off as a hero and someone who Spider-Man will idolize, but secretly he created the Elementals and uses them to display the stance of a hero. Fury hired Mysterio due to his own knowledge on the Elementals but doesn't trust him, so he has Peter keep tabs on him and after he's found out, Mysterio's true villainy will be shown.</p>

Then to add onto what u said Shogun (i have no knowledge of what the elementals r like in the comics) what if the elementals realize they r being played by mysterio and r basically making him a hero so they assist spiderman in taking Mysterio down
