Once again I made the mistake of posting my favorite order of the movies, and I was given hell for my preferences again, particularly Thor: The Dark World being high on the list, to the point they suspected I wasn't even being serious. So, I had it deleted again, but I felt I owe you an explanation why.

I like movies that are fun for me. Having a miserable atmosphere throughout (like Civil War) just isn't fun for me. Maybe it's because I'm suffering from mild depression.

Things that make movies fun for me are:

Comedy. This film had the most comedy of any before Guardians of the Galaxy, mostly from Loki, who was fan-favorite villain before Killmonger in case you forgot. And of course Darcy and Ian.

Special effects. As in, the more supernatural or surreal-looking ones. While Doctor Strange is king for that, aside from being set in Asgard and in a dark world, there's also the malevolent-looking cloud of Aether the final fight takes place in. And Malekith's tower looks like the Eye of Sauron, and his world looks like Mordor.

An epic battle preferably ending in the villain's death - Although Thor owned Malekith in the aforementioned final phase, the battle was still pretty cool. Malekith didn't have much personality and is evil just because, which is the reason everyone else hates this movie, but I liked him as a mysterious and sinister villain all the same. Better than Cross and Kaecilius. Although he survived the fight with Thor (despite Thor intending to kill him) only to be accidentally killed by Selvig, it did at least have that climactic ending, and plus the first phase of the battle, with Thor and Malekith falling through the portals, was also awesome. And of course earlier there was the phase with Algrim, who was destroyed rather spectacularly.

Even if Zemo had died, dead or imprisoned, he still won. And another thing that put me off in Civil War was vilifying the Avengers by revealing they accidentally killed innocent people trying to save them.

The main conflict to be resolved - Malekith is dead, the universe is saved, the Aether is in the possession of someone who, while pretty evil himself, at LEAST won't use it to destroy the world (though of course Thanos will get it). And things even end well for Thor, for the time being. Of course there IS the cliffhanger of Loki taking over Asgard, but Thanos was on my mind first. This is one of the things that put me off in Civil War, which can't claim that. True that Infinity War has the same problem, but at least it was a fun ride and had some comedy in it.

Not feeling too slow - The movie is over two hours long, but every time I watch it it feels like an hour and a half. You know a movie's enjoyable to you if it feels shorter than it actually is. (This is a problem I had with Iron Man, as I previously mentioned there's not as much in the way of action, and one of the longest action scenes next to the fight with Obi is the Air Force chase which I didn't feel was necessary, even then they were playing with people thinking the heroes to be enemies even though all he did was save a village from terrorists while leaving all hostages alive)

Now, the movie isn't without its heavy points. The deaths of Frigga and many other Asgardians, and the whole treason thing, but the latter was resolved as mentioned above. Even though Loki was posing as Odin, Odin did reconcile with Thor in Ragnarok, holding nothing against him. They seemed to be playing with turning the world against the heroes a bit, but deciding not to go the whole way until Civil War.

So, that's why I like Thor: The Dark World so much. Comedy, awesome final battle, a villain I thought was interesting and compelling even if he lacked personality, and who is defeated in the end. I will still respect anyone who feels differently from me here, so I implore you to do the same.
