Time travel in Avengers 4.

So, as we know, there is a big change that we see time travelling in Avengers 4. I have allways kind of "hated" time travel movies. I mean, Days of future past is excelent movie, but I'm just allways scared that the timd travel makes no sence.

So, today i want to discuss about time travel. So, there is one thing that i have allways been thinking about. So, Let's say that "time" or "timeline" is chain of "moments" and every "moment" is like 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 nanoseconds or something. Anyway, the smallest possible time. Then, only way time travel could work is that in the chain of those "Moments" the MCU time is the "first one" or like that time kind of decides what happens in the future. Because, think about this. If you go back in time and change something, it means that the future version of you, let's say like you 70 years in future has already done that 70 years ago so history has already changed so you shouldn't need to do that. So, the only way to change the past is by existing in the "Leading time" wich is the first one on the chain of moments.

And now i'm gonna say something VERY confusing. It's one problem in time travelling. And i really hooe you even try 6nderstand what i'm saying...

so, if you are in the "leading time" and go back in time to kill Hitler in let's say 1941, then version of you in the moment that comes right after the "leading time" also goes to 1941, should they see Hitler already being killed because history has changed because you in "leading time" has already done that. Or, should yourself in the time right after "leading time" then see yourself in "leading time" killing hitler? or tbh, should version you in every single "moment be there at the same time? Because then in 1941 Hitler sees that guy from future comes to kill him, he should at the same time see everyone come to kill him? so confusing.

I know, I know, I's confusing but tell me did you get it?

And i know that This is more Time travel discussion than MCU discussion but this is alsi about Avengers 4 so.... Idk, i'm very bored.

One tip, Don't try to think of time travel, only thing you get is headache.

Are you distinguishing between the two types of time travel?

1) Scientific, four-dimensional time travel where if you travel from the future back into the past, then that past event has already happened - you can't change time, because time, past, present, future, it all already exists, we're just perceiving it passing.

The type shown in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Interstellar, The Terminator (just the first one), Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. right up until the Season 5 finale where they changed it.

2) Branching timelines, where someone goes back in time and changes the timeline, diverging things and changing the future. Not scientific at all, but used more commonly in fiction.

The type shown in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Back to the Future, The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Terminator 2 onwards.

There are two main different types of time travel. There’s the Bootstrap Paradox and the Butterfly Effect.

The Bootstrap Paradox

This is when somebody goes into the past or future (but usually past) tries to change the events but instead causes what has already happened, being in a consistent loop as shown below. If you go to a point in time where you interact with your past self, the young version will remember it to keep his/her part of the loop and will become you.

The Butterfly Effect

This is when somebody goes into the past or future, but they then change things intentionally or unintentionally, creating an alternate timeline. There has been an example of this already in the MCU, Agents of SHIELD S5. In this example, the SHIELD team (except Fitz)

time travel to the year 2091 via the time monolith and they see the horrific future. Meanwhile, six months after Fitz was arrested, he is frozen in a cryogenic chamber for 74 years. He then arrives and meets the team, he creates a time machine and they arrive in December 2017, and they attempt to change things. Fast forward to Episode 22, when Daisy kills Graviton, which is the change, creating the alternate timeline, where the destruction of Earth doesn’t occur. Timelines can be crossed through by a person or a group of people, but nobody has the ability to. This is shown below

But going to future is impossible, if you go to future it means that the future version of you has also done that.

@Yogen Thiran One of your therories make no sence. The versions of you that exist in other times can not do different decicions than each other.

@Kuusakat1122 It is possible to travel forward in time in a sense. Although, in reality it’s actually that time slows for you and not for others, so in effect time is slower for you than others or to put it another way it is relative. It is not time travel in the traditional sense

If the FUTURE self makes a decision before his PRESENT self makes a decision, it is possible for him to be there before his PRESENT self. Because if the PRESENT self has a time machine so does the FUTURE self of him. The FUTURE self just has to remember what is the date and time his PRESENT self killed the murderer, and just has to come before it.

For the Harry Potter time travel setup (easily my favorite and I wanna say the objective best) or butterfly setup, I wonder if Hitler had a bodyguard to protect him from the day he was born to his death who was from the future, specifically given the duty to kill anyone who tries to come back in time and assassinate Hitler because of the Butterfly effect, real or concieved, as well as all the other people seen as villians in history, to protect from well-meaning but ignorant people who try to fix history? (inhales)
