I’m pretty much indifferent to the idea of a Hawkeye film

I doubt it, I'm more inclined to believe Clint will somehow come into play in the Black Widow Movie as a supporting character.

Really, Hawkeye would be able to have a better movie then Black Widow. There's just more demand for her because people want a female lead superhero movie and because the MCU enhanced Black Widow while lowering Hawkeye. Hawkeye is my favourite character, so I would love to see anything with him in it. He has a really cool comic backstory: Parents dies, he and his brother ran away and joined the circus, trained as an archer, mentor turned out to be a bad guy, tries to be a hero, mistaken as a villain, meets Black Widow, falls in love, commits crime, becomes an Avenger etc. etc. So in the MCU, all they need to do is mix that with what they have established already: joined SHIELD, Fury's best agent, meets/marries Laura, hunts the Black Widow, spares her, STRIKE TEAM DELTA, joins the Avengers. Plus he has some cool villains as well: Crossfire, Trickshot, Bullseye, Trickshot (his brother), Swordsman etc. Trust me, Hawkeye works, give him a chance. Only problem is Jeremy Renner needs to make this movie asap before he gets too old or his character becomes completely irrelevant...DIES (Unless he doesn't leave the MCU, but starts a new arc as Ronin, which would also be cool. A John Wick type movie but it's Hawkeye as a ninja)
