<p>Well, you can say they're a lot like each other and that would be confusing, but they can work together if one of their mythologies is simplified. Personally, I prefer that it happens to the Eternals, because first: they are the ones who are based off the Olympians, not the other way around; second: many people do know the Olympians, their names and how they work already, because of how often Greek mythology is used in all other media, but the Eternals are unknown to the mainstream; and third: how many memorable Eternals are there, really? I don't know much about them, so I'm not someone who would be able to tell this anyway, but how many Eternals have done relevant stuff in the comics? Seems to me that the most important thing they could do in the MCU is helping to tell Thanos' origins, which yeah, is important, but after that, what exactly would they be used for? </p>

<p>Well, Thanos is most knowledgeble Eternal, but all the Olimpian's Family has been prominent, especially in Civil War. Ikaris, Makkari, Sersi (who has been a member of the Avengers)... there are story that can be told. </p><p>But if i introduced Zuras in the MCU, i think it would be hard to also introduce Zeus.  </p>

<p>About the relevance of the Eternals, well, the same thing can be said for the Olympians: with the exceptions of the origins of Hercules and Ares, there has not be much other space for the Greek Mythology in the Marvel Comics. </p>

<p>So both have about the same relevance in the comics? Curious. Well, they could still select the most important members of each culture to be used in the MCU. I mean, of course, if Hercules was introduced, then Zeus would have to be introduced with him. Then they would have to choose whether to expand on Zeus or Zuras... </p><p>How is this functional in the comics, btw? To say the least, I bet that the writers who created the Eternals weren't thinking of using the actual Olympians in the comics as well. </p>

<p>Interesting and complex arguments. Characters from Greek Mythology were already introduced in the 40s/50s, like Mercury (that was later retconned as Makkari of the Eternals) and Venus (who was a member of the Agent of Atlas, but it sometimes unclear if she is the actual Goddess of Love). Hercules was introduced in 1965 as an opponent/ally of Thor, while the Eternals were created by Jack Kirby in 1976 after he left DC Comics. The Eternals are basically the Marvel version of the New Gods, that Kirby never completed. They were something different, more "sci-fi", than the actual Olympians, but in the various part of their history is stated clearly that humans were inspired by the Eternals and "mistaked" them for the Greek/Roman Gods. </p>

<p>So, basically, a bunch or retcons and adaptations. Yeah, I shouldn't be surprised. I think I will settle for Hercules in the MCU, and maybe Ares, so the Eternals can take over the rest. It's not like Marvel ever made great adaptations of Greek mythology in the first place. </p>

<p>Actually, I was talking about adding them to the MCU, not necessarily Ragnarok. We know the Eternals will probably be mentioned during Thanos' origins, and all I want is to be sure they won't be the same as the Greek gods in the MCU. But to be honest, it's been said that Thor: Ragnarok will involve a lot of space travelling, mostly through the Nine Realms, so it's more than likely to have even more characters than the ones that have been already announced. I wouldn't be surprised if we got something like an easter egg about either/both the Greek gods and the Eternals at some point of it. </p>

<p>There still is the fact that peter quill is a half human half god, basically. There is your Hercules. </p>
