That's 2 weeks' gross compared to total gross. The example you use, Wonder Woman, had made $234m in the U.S. 14 days after release, Captain Marvel has made $282m. That's not meant as a "Look Marvel's beating DC or anything" I'm just explaining that the comparison you make is uneven, and that's the even comparison. It'll end up in the $500m range in the U.S..
While its record-breaking is mostly its worldwide box office, it's still doing really well in the U.S.. It had the 7th biggest MCU opening domestically, only behind the films that are essentially insurmountable if you're not a huge scale Marvel film: the three Avengers films, Iron Man 3 (boosted by Avengers), Civil War, and Black Panther.
I'm not sure what would be extreme about what she says. I would say that any extremity you might discern may have come from someone passing on comments without context or direct quoting. Some of her wording on the spot has also not quite been perfect which unfortunately leads to some people genuinely misunderstanding and others exploiting unclear points, but I feel the gist of her comments can be discerned with an open mind. Or maybe you do know all about it and have researched it and still feel this way, obviously I don't know you and I can't judge.
Her not clapping for Casey Affleck was because there had been multiple allegations with no reason to lie. It is statically estimated that 95% of the time, a sexual harassment allegation is true, as there is no motivation in almost all cases to lie. You undergo a gruelling, exposing, humiliating process and massive criticism from certain people and stand to potentially lose a lot in defamation and perversion of justice cases if found to be lying. When multiple allegations come out, the chances of falsehood become increasingly tiny. And she didn't make a big deal out of it or accuse him, she just subtly refused to fully congratulate a man who was all-but proven to be a sexual harrasser because she felt she simply could not. In congratulating him she is outwardly supporting him, and she took the minimum action to not show full support.
I think you might have misunderstood her comments, it's quite the opposite. She is trying to help dismantle favouritism in the industry by bringing people of all diverse natures to the same level of jobs and hiring and receive more diverse criticism, when currently the industry is statistically shown to be very skewed too far to favouritism of white people and of men. She just wants more spread for all those who are being discriminated against, she doesn't like them any more than she does the white men, but the white men don't need her help.
What you say about having a stick up her, that's just shyness. She talks a lot about how introverted she is and it does sometimes come across, she's very self-conscious and tries a bit too hard to be funny on occasion. Chris Evans does the same in interviews, his laughter is clearly exaggerated and things like that because he's an introverted person. I would recommend Brie's interviews with Sam, or the one with puppies, and her Ali Plumb interview because you get to see her loosen up a bit and be more comfortable.
A similar response about her being stuck up, I really never have got that impression, honestly I think she's just scared and sometimes overdoes the "Yeah let's be confident together!" trying a bit too hard to be funny.
I would say that "I'll give her that" is maybe not the best wording when calling her pretty. It can come across as reducing her worth to that and I know you don't really intend that, but just worth noting.
I don't really get what you're saying when you say it's receiving the same energy she put out, but no, I don't think Marvel have told her anything, I think media are just worried to propagate more online misunderstanding and anger. But all her statements from the last month or two have not just been her stepping up and declaring something, she gets asked political questions about women in the film industry and the like, particularly because she is a woman and playing the first female solo Marvel lead it just happens more than with the others, and she can't be evasive and doesn't want to be.
